How to play Retro Pets

We keep it short, so here’s the walk-through you need to loop, boost, and win.

1. Make an account & adopt

Choose a name, a color, and a slot for your ASCII pal. That companion will earn XP, unlock slots, and hold crystals.

2. Run the activity trio

Farm → Mine → Fish. Each finishes fast, refills bags, and drops materials. Sell before the next run to keep coins flowing.

3. Handle crystals

Dust materials into shards, identify them, and slot boosts on pets or dust them back to try another roll.

4. Track rewards

Claim quests, trivia, and milestones daily. Bonus events and the marquee keep you informed without extra work.

Activity flow

  1. Start with farming (it gives materials and fills the bag).
  2. Drop into mining to unlock rarer ores, then finish with fishing for a mix of shards and coins.
  3. Sell, dust, and feed pets between runs so XP and affinity keep unlocking slots.

The sidebar keeps your pets, activities, and rewards visible so nothing feels hidden.

Crystal console deep dive

  • Materials turn into dust (not shards) in the Dusting desk. Dust can only be merged upward—common dust makes uncommon dust, uncommon makes rare, rare makes legendary, and legendary makes supreme.
  • Identified crystals show their boost type, percent, and whether they’re equipped. Dusting a crystal now drops one dust of that rarity, so you can’t spin the same boost without combining dust to a higher tier first.
  • Merging uses the dust map: four dust pieces move you up one rarity, never backward.
  • Every time you hit Identify, the boost type comes up randomly—think of it like rolling a crystal, and the UI shows you the result.
  • Buying a crowbar (now 1500 coins) lets you reroll with 100% success; otherwise rerolling carries a 25–50% chance to consume the token without improving the crystal.

Daily pacing

Trivia gives you 10 seconds per question with a 5-second pause after each finish. Emergency boosts appear in the signal flare marquee instead of spammy toasts. Keep an eye on quests for consistent coins and tokens.
